Vote by Mail

Can’t make it to your polling place on election day? Vote by mail! Request your ballot here.

To apply for a ballot online, you will need to provide your email address and one of the following: MN-issued driver's license, Minnesota ID card or the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. If this does not work for you, you can apply for a ballot on paper.

Leave time for election officials to mail your ballot and for you to return it on or before Election Day. Ballots will be sent starting September 21 for the 2018 General Election.

For your ballot to count, remember this important information:

  • Read the instructions that come with your ballot carefully.

  • You will need a witness when you vote and complete your ballot. The witness can be either a registered Minnesota voter or a notary. (You can find a notary at most banks, local government buildings, and campus legal centers.)

  • Mail the ballot and forms back right away after you finish. Your ballot will not count if it is received after Election Day.

More info on voting by mail here and here.

Do you need a special military or overseas ballot? You can find it here.
