Enacting Sensible Gun Legislation
Heather was one of the first members of Edina’s chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. Heather supports the rights of responsible gun owners and she stands with students, teachers, parents, and neighbors concerned about gun violence.
As a member of Edina’s Crime Prevention Fund, Heather understands and shares the concerns of law enforcement with respect to the nearly unchecked proliferation of weapons.
Heather is a trained mental health professional and understands that behavioral health must be considered in improving outcomes as well.
With this experience, at the State Capitol Heather will:
- Support initiatives to help increase student mental health service access in schools, to improve awareness of mental illness, and to improve outcomes.
- Support an assault weapons ban, close background check loopholes, and limit magazine capacity.
- Increase partnerships with law enforcement, schools, hospitals, and communities to address mental health concerns before they lead to violence.
