The Edelson for House campaign internship is designed for both high school and college students interested in learning more about Minnesota politics and campaigns. The program offers unique opportunities to develop political organizing skills, gain insight into how campaigns are run, and make a difference in one of the most competitive state legislative races of 2018.
The application deadline for the program has passed, but we welcome you to sign up to volunteer!
Time commitment: High school interns are required to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week and college interns 10 hours per week, with the exact start and end dates to be individually determined. Schedules are flexible, and accommodations can be made given prior notice.
Basic expectations: Interns will be the backbone of our campaign to flip district 49A. Duties will include, but are not limited to, door-knocking, phone banking, voter registration, volunteer recruitment, research, PR and marketing, event planning and staffing and social media management. In the course of supporting the campaign, interns will be taught the basics of political organization, messaging, and voter outreach. No prior political experience is necessary.
Compensation: Unfortunately, our campaign cannot offer paid internships. However, we want this experience to be valuable and worthwhile. Participants will receive valuable campaign experience and develop skills vital to careers in and out of politics. This campaign is a great opportunity to get a foot in the door in DFL politics and interns will receive letters of recommendation for college and/or job applications. This will be a competitive race watched closely by many in Minnesota and hard work will not go unnoticed.
Please reach out to the campaign’s Internship Coordinator, Sam Parmekar, at Sam@heatheredelson.com with any questions.
